Bottom Lounge -
1357 W. Lake St.
Chicago IL
I visited the new Bottom Lounge on Friday, to see the highly underrated, long time Chicago punk staples, MOTO. We arrived early and with us came the familiar grumbles of hunger, so we used this as an opportunity to check out the menu at the Bottom Lounge restaurant.
My wife had a curry chicken lettuce wrap and I had (big surprise) the Bottom Lounge burger.
The burger came with cheddar cheese, balsamic onions and chipotle ketchup, served on a light pretzel roll. If Kuma's has done anything for burgers in Chicago, it has opened a lot of eyes to the wonderful world of the pretzel roll. If you want to make me happy, there's a very simple formula:
1 - Pretzel roll.
2 - Cook my burger the way I request it.
3 - Make sure it isn't a frozen patty.
We started out with an appetizer of Belgian Fries, which have fresh garlic, grated Parmesan cheese and basil. These were excellent and I was glad we ordered them.
When the burger arrived, I dressed it with a tomato and lettuce, adding a little bit or regular ketchup. I cut the burger in half and took note that the burger was cooked to a perfect medium. It was a hand formed patty and you could taste that it was cooked on a flame. I couldn't taste any specific seasoning to the burger, but that was mostly because the chipotle ketchup over powered it a bit. In fact, that was my only problem with the burger really, they could have gone a little easy on the chipotle ketchup. It wasn't too spicy, it was just over powering.
Well worth checking this place out for dinner before a show.
